Empowering Through Education: The Digital Hub’s Impact on Refugee Women

The Wezesha Digital Hub stands as a beacon of hope in Kyangwali Refugee Settlement, where access to technology has historically been a privilege rather than a right for women and girls who have fled conflict and persecution.

Since its inception last year, the hub has trained over 75 refugee women in essential digital literacy skills, from basic computer operations to digital entrepreneurship, fundamentally transforming their economic prospects and social standing within their communities.

These women now leverage their newfound skills to manage online businesses, connect with remote employment opportunities, and access vital information about their rights and available resources, demonstrating how digital inclusion serves as a powerful catalyst for women’s economic independence and their ability to break free from cycles of violence and dependency that often plague refugee settlements.
