Last month’s gathering in Apac brought together 120 community members—elders, religious leaders, young people, and local officials—to openly discuss harmful practices that have been normalized for generations.
After six months of regular dialogues, community leaders have independently implemented local bylaws against domestic violence and early marriage, demonstrating how creating safe spaces for difficult conversations can lead to community-driven protection mechanisms that outlast external interventions and become woven into the social fabric of these recovering communities.
